Leddin Makes an Impression on Return to Council Chamber

I couldn't have expected a more generous headline, but for the avoidance of doubt, I was not returning to the Council Chamber as a councillor, nor as a representative of the Green Party. I left the party last year. I have volunteered to be the representative of the Limerick Public Participation Network (PPN) on the Council's Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) on Economic Development, Enterprise and Planning. While I spoke on numerous issues at my first meeting this is the contribution that was picked up by the journalist. I guess it's a classic urban versus rural story. What the article doesn't make clear is that Councillor O'Donoghue was arguing for a departure from established national standards to facilitate wide agricultural vehicles on the street. Yet he frames it as if I wanted streets to be narrowed when I really just argued for the standards to be adhered to.
